A Vibrant Addition to Your Pond

The Comet Goldfish is particularly eye-catching when swimming through a planted pond. Their bright orange-gold colouring provides a wonderful contrast against green aquatic plants and darker pond water.

When the sunlight catches their scales, their vibrant colouring can really stand out, making them an attractive feature fish for the garden pond.

    Ideal Water Temperature

Comet Goldfish are hardy pond fish and can tolerate a range of water temperatures.

For best health and activity, an ideal water temperature is approximately 15–24°C. They can tolerate cooler conditions, making them well suited to outdoor ponds, but sudden changes in temperature should always be avoided.

When introducing new fish, gradually acclimatise them to the pond water before releasing them.

    Feeding Your Comet Goldfish

Feed your Comets a quality goldfish or pond fish food suitable for their size.

Offer small amounts that the fish can comfortably consume within a few minutes. Avoid overfeeding, as uneaten food can contribute to poor water quality.

As water temperatures fall, fish become less active and their feeding requirements may decrease.

    Creating a Healthy Pond

Your fish will thrive best in an established pond with good water quality and plenty of swimming space.

    We recommend providing:

    • Good filtration
    • Adequate oxygenation
    • Suitable swimming space
    • Aquatic plants for shelter and natural cover
    • Good water quality
    • Protection from sudden changes in water temperature

A well-planted pond can provide additional shelter and create a more natural environment for your fish.

Open the package promptly and gradually acclimatise your fish to the pond water before releasing it.

Avoid placing newly arrived fish straight into the pond without allowing them time to adjust to the difference in temperature and water conditions.

    Important Information About Live Fish

Fish are living animals and their appearance can naturally vary.

The Comets supplied are approximately 5cm, but individual fish may vary slightly in size, shape and colouring. Some may display more orange or gold, while others may have a more noticeable white or pale belly.

Images are representative of the fish available and may not show the exact fish you receive.

Please ensure your pond is established, appropriately sized and has suitable water quality before ordering live fish.
